What Explain does
- Explains only the passage you selected — not the rest of the document.
- Handles a selection of up to about 4,000 characters.
- Replies in the language of the interface (EN, PT or ES).
Privacy & AI
The PDF is opened and stored locally in your browser — the file is never sent to ReadPro.
Explain sends just the text you highlight, so the AI explains that passage and receives nothing else from the document.
Good to know
- The PDF must have selectable text for Explain to work.
- Scanned or image-only PDFs can be read, but not explained for now.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported.

Do I need an account?
No. You can open a PDF and try Explain without signing up. A few uses are free; after that you continue with ReadPro Pro.
Is my PDF sent anywhere?
No. The file is opened and stored only in your browser and is never uploaded.
What does the AI receive?
Only the passage you select — up to about 4,000 characters. It does not receive the rest of the PDF.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
You can read them, but Explain needs selectable text, so scanned or image-only PDFs can't be explained right now.
What kinds of explanation are there?
Simple (plain language), in-depth (concepts and relationships within the passage) and example (one concrete illustration).
Is there a limit on the passage?
Yes — a selection of roughly 4,000 characters. Longer selections are trimmed.
How is this different from Chat with PDF?
ReadPro explains a passage you select. It does not read or index the whole document, and there is no document-wide chat in this tool.
How do I remove the PDF?
Open your library and delete it — the document, its bytes and its progress are removed from your browser.
